Insubong Climbing Trip

A few weekends ago I had a weekend climbing adventure! Saturday morning I went with Tony and MinJung to climb at a place near Pohang. He had read on Koreaontherocks.com some other foreigners were going to be climbing there. Apparently a woman is writing a book about climbing spots around Korea, so she goes to the spots with her photographer and documents the location! It was pretty neat watching him get set up to take the pictures. While I was there, everyone starting talking about Insubong, the climbing place I was going to the next day. It’s a place right outside of Seoul that’s pretty popular for climbers. But apparently it’s pretty crowded on the weekends. Tons of climbers from all around are all climbing these multi-pitch routes….and things get busy quick. Though they kind of scared me a bit, I wasn’t about to back down. I was just going to make sure I was extra careful!

Weekends in between trips!

So we LOVE to post about our fantastic trips that we always go on. But sometimes there are weekends that trips out of Pohang are not had, and we decide to stay home and enjoy that beautiful city we live in.

A few weeks ago, right after Malaysia, a few friends and I decided to go check out the great 12 waterfalls right on the outskirts of Pohang. It was a really great day. I met with Therese and the twins Pips and Jax in the morning and we took the pleasant hour long bus ride right to where we had to go. The weather could seriously not have been better. It was sunny but definitely not too hot.

Malaysia Trip!

Forward: Because this trip was so amazingly awesome, and neither of us could bare to let the other have all the fun writing about it, we decided to agree on joint custody of Malaysia. Sam agreed to Wednesday to Saturday and Courtney wrote about Sunday to Tuesday. We hope you enjoy our vacation as much as we did!

Oh boy Malaysia!! I can’t even express how excited we three were to be heading to beautiful Malaysia. It was such a random time for us to be going on holiday because we technically only got 2 days off of school, but we decided we were doing it and we did it the most awesome way possible, I assure you.

More Pre-Malaysia Adventures

To go or not to go, that was the question. We originally had plans to go check out this super cool bull fighting festival in a town that our friend lives in. But then - of course we heard that it was canceled. So there was a day of trying to decide what we would do instead. But then we heard from Harley (the fellow who lives in the town) that the festival was most likely not canceled because he saw signs all over the city. So we took a chance, and decided that the plan was back on!

A wrap-up before Malaysia

Me and a Student at the Steelers Game
So things have been kinda quiet for a while now. Since we’re going to Malaysia, we’ve decided to try and save our money and stay in Pohang. Since there hasn’t been much going on, we haven’t posted much. But since I have the photos, I figured I should go ahead and post them! The following photos are from the last two weekends activities, which include a soccer game, a dozen doughnut challenge (eating 12 KrispyKreme doughnuts before the other can), bowling, and climbing.

Climbing on Sunday

Now, while Sam was out playing tennis, I was going climbing! When I stopped by the gym Friday, before Dan’s salsa performance., the gym members invited me to go climbing with them. Of course I was going to say yes! Nothing could keep me away!
