Even Tonsillitis won't keep us away!

Apparently in Korea, there is a place down south where the sea parts and you can walk across the ocean floor. Amazing right? I sure thought so! I found out about this even last year and have been keeping tabs on it, ready to head straight down to Jindo the moment it happened! Well, I found out the dates – and it happened to fall on a weekend. And that weekend, I happened to be free! I was going to the Jindo Sea Parting Festival! Of course, I told everyone about my plans – “I’m going to the Jindo Sea Parting, oh man it’s going to be soooo cooool, want to go?” That was about the time I heard the awful news, “Oh, well I think that is canceled so sorry you can’t go.” At first I was devastated! The sea parting, canceled? Why does every festival have to be canceled? (I know the answer, Foot and Mouth disease. But that doesn’t mean I like the answer!) I sat around my home in a mood of deep depression for a few minutes…..until I realized, Korea and the Foot and Mouth disease can cancel a festival, but they can NOT cancel a Sea Parting! Only God and Moses can do that! So it was set – I was going!

Happy Birthday Sandy!

Beautiful Birthday Girl!
Happy Birthday Sandy!

This weekend we went to Daegu with some people to celebrate our good friend Sandy’s birthday. This day was by far the most planned and organized day of our whole six months in Korea so far, I’d have to say. But first, let’s start on Friday, because that is after all the day that weekends begins.

After a week that felt like forever, we were all ready to start the weekend off right! We met up with some friends for dinner at an “all you can eat” vegetarian Korean side dish place. There were about 8 of us, and the table that we sat at soon became absolutely covered in dishes and dishes of very strange and different foods. There were about 6 different kinds of greens; all marinated in different flavors. There were multiple fish dishes with all shapes and sizes of fish. We also got a plate of fried Korean foods, and our own bowls of rice. The food was great, with each one of us picking out a certain dish and eating all of it! After dinner we met up with some more people in Pohang and painted the town red! The night ended in the new improved Tilt which moved from a small tiny space hidden somewhere in Pohang, to a much bigger venue right along the beach. Everyone left there happier than when they came, and I’m sure we all slept like babies that night.

StEEEEEEElers!!!!

Watch out dude! Don't fall over!
So last weekend was the first time us old teachers got to meet some of the newbies who just got into Pohang.

Saturday we had a full day! It was the opening game for the Pohang Steelers soccer team, and we went to support our team. It was a really exciting game. The game itself ended in a tie of 1-1 but all of the supporters were so exciting to watch, and the over all morale of the event was great.

...and THIS is a picture of what we're doing NOW!

It’s been awhile since we posted last because we’ve gotten kinda lazy. But now, it’s time for that laziness to end! I’m going to get right back on it!

Because it’s been awhile, there have been a couple events that haven’t been discussed. Because it would take to long to write them all out and include pictures and blah blah blah, I’ll just write a quick list. That way I can get to this weekend without overloading myself on blog updating and then never wanting to write again! So…the past few weeks have included:
-Snowboarding trip
- Rock Climbing competition in Deagu
- Trick Art Museum
- Another snowboarding trip
- A snowstorm
- Homigot
- Birthday Dinners
- Trips to Yeongcheon
- Winter camp
